Database ?

Hi am newbie here i have uploaded my file am on box12.
When i try to go to phpmyadmin another page comes up asking to enter username and password but when i do nothing happens.
I used user & pass from server control panel to try and login but no joy.
I really need to set a database up before i can install my site.
Can you help me out please.
